Messages from the
Dean Nursing is both a science and an art, which
focuses on human health and receives respect and trust from the
public. In recent years, with the rapid development of society and
economy, the deepening reform of China’s healthcare, the
aggravation of aging problem and the increasing prevalence rate of
noninfectious chronic diseases, social demand for nurses increases
.Nursing as a healthcare profession in today's world focuses on the
health status of a person as a whole rather than the disease itself
and the nursing service has been expanded to communities, schools
and enterprises. By the year 2011, nursing has become a first-level
discipline with scientific system, complementing with clinical
medicine and continuously contributing to human health.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Nursing, among the
earliest colleges to resume BSN programs in China, encounters lots
of opportunities and great challenges nowadays. The school adopted
modern philosophy and teaching mode of high school as well as
incorporating the nursing research, evidenced-based nursing, and
community health nursing with the other courses as to cultivate
students with diverse thinking and clinical abilities, humanistic
spirits, prosperous career planning and international view while
expanding the nursing roles in human growth and development.
As nursing development being a global concern, the school of
nursing will utilize its good resources, further expand its efforts
on nursing education, scientific research and social service so as
to serve for the development of nursing science and health
promotion of the public.
Let’s cooperate with each other and be prepared for the
challenges and tasks in the 21st century!
